The Member organisations of the Alliance believe that
more can be achieved for Worcester by working together than working alone. Together they have formed a vision – to make
Worcester
‘a First Rank Cathedral and
University City’.
The main vehicle for achieving this vision is the Community Strategy for Worcester. This strategy contains the outcomes the Alliance desires
for Worcester, all of which will improve the lives of the people who live in, work in and visit of Worcester. Some
of these objectives have been agreed with the Government at a countywide level and form part of Worcestershire’s Local Area Agreement (LAA) and Worcester’s Local Development Framework (LDF). Others have been decided on after consultation with people
and organisations in Worcester. Either way, they all fall under six headings:
- Communities that are safe and feel safe
- A better environment, for today and tomorrow
- Economic success that is shared by all
- Improving health and well-being
- Meeting the needs of children and young people
- Stronger communities
See the Community Strategy section for more details.
The Alliance recognises that it can't deliver all of these outcomes by itself. Therefore,
it is concentrating its efforts on four priority projects, with the rest of teh strategy being delivered by individual Alliance
members, throuhg the Local area Agreement for Worcestershire, and by central government.
The four priority projects are:
Focusing on Warndon and Gorse Hill wards
Developing a 'Masterplan' for the city centre
Addressing Transport needs and congestion
Tackling the causes adn effects of climate change
